My first experience at a chiropractor ……………….
“The doctor of the future will prescribe no medicine, but will interest the patient in the care of the human body, in proper diet and in the cause of prevention of disease” – Thomas Edison
The exact description for Dr Nicole Puchner, a chiropractor, practicing from Doc A Work, 99 Michelle Avenue, Randhart, tel 0118691904, who restored my health and well being with spinal manipulation.
I was a strong and healthy person; I have not experienced a bout of flu or a cold in many years. Therefore, I don’t own any kind of medication not even a headache tablet.
In October 2013, I started experiencing a sharp shooting pain from my shoulder down into my arm, on the odd occasion, nothing to worry about. The pain started to happen more frequently and with more intensity. In February 2014, I seeked help from my GP, who suggested X-ray. The X-ray showed bursitis in my shoulder capsule and the GB prescribed anti-inflammatory tablets. As bursitis is an age-related condition, I just had to accept it and not use my arm unnecessarily. By April 2014, the pain was permanent day and night whether I used my arm or not.
I did not know that X-Rays do not reveal neither nerve nor the innate intelligence breakdown in our vertebral joint misalignments which interferes with the body’s functions and its inborn ability to heal and regulate itself e.g. a pinched nerve affects the health of the end organ, being my arm.
In desperation and agony, I visited Dr Nicole, who assessed and treated me. My left leg was shorter that my right leg which caused my shoulders to be crooked which caused the pinched nerve in my neck. The pain was already easier after the first treatment. In the second session, we discussed the underlying problem which was that the pinched nerve in my neck was just the symptom (the tip of the ice-berg) and the masking of many years of stress build-up affecting my nerves, aspiration and heart rate. A second treatment followed and I was just about pain-free, but still could not use my arm effectively. The best news was that this is all curable without surgery AND medication. What a bonus.
I have had many 15-minute treatments since. I have experienced that while Dr Nicole assesses my spine and then proceeds to manipulate my vertebrae joints with a passive manual massage to manipulate, adjust, stimulate and correct the non-firing nerves, sometimes using the “Torque Release Technique” tool. My arm is mending seemingly by itself.
In all these months, I have listened to Dr Nicole’s counsel by implementing a healthier diet, moderate exercise, postural advice, self-care strategies, relaxation and stress reduction recommendations. Most importantly – breath consciously, slowly breathe right down into the bottom of the stomach, hold and release to the count of 4 minutes, which helps to regulate and heal the body naturally.
Right now, I am about 90% repaired; permanently pain-free and I can use my arm easily and effectively.
I found Dr Nicole to be very professional and knowledgeable with a great capacity for compassion, care and gentleness, very direct in communicating, and instinctively knowing exactly how far to manipulate my spine or arm before I want to explode with pain. To Dr Nicole, my health is more important than my affordability, without the slightest hesitation, Dr Nicole adjusted the payment rates to suit me. The staff is friendly, helpful sympathetic and most accommodating. I wish I did not wait so long to get help.
