Adrenal Fatigue Stages: What you need to know about this 21st Century Stress Disease

In today’s news we look at the impact chronic stress has on your adrenal glands, affecting your overall health.

Adrenal glands control your body’s built in stress response.

The adrenal glands help regulate your metabolism, help your body respond to stress, regulate blood pressure, and produce hormones such as adrenaline.

When the adrenal glands are over taxed due to chronic stress, they can create a variety of symptoms including:

  • Exhaustion
  • Reduced sex drive
  • PMS
  • Memory and cognitive problems
  • Cravings for salt and sugar
  • Weight gain around the mid-section
  • Weight loss resistance
  • Chronic fatigue

Over-stressed adrenals may also impair your thyroid, endocrine system, digestive system, and sympathetic nervous system.

Here are 3 stages of adrenal fatigue to be aware of:

Stage 1: The Alarm Phase is your body’s first response to stress known as ‘fight or flight’.

Stage 2: The Resistance Phase is when you begin to realize something is not quite right, but you may not know what it is.

Stage 3: The Exhaustion Stage is when your body finally breaks down.

Managing your stress is essential for excellent health and well-being, and chiropractic care is a good first step to help you better manage your stress.

Get regular chiropractic checkups for the whole family, and make sure your spine and your brain are working the best they can.

Your health will be better because of it.
