Posture

We had a great talk last Wednesday!  Thank you for those who were able to join us.

Looking at your posture is a quick way to tell how well your body is coping.  The healthy body balances well and moves easily, whereas when things are not working so well we can feel stiff and sore, movement feels like hard work.

Becoming aware of your posture as you stand, sit and lie down is the first step to correcting it, knowing that the habits that have created this posture can be changed means that you can change your posture too.

A quick way to see if you’re able to stand upright is to do the wall test.  Stand with your back against the wall, can you put your heels, buttock, shoulder blades and the back of your head against the wall at the same time?  There will be a natural gap at your lower back and behind your neck where the curves of your spine create a space.  Try stepping away from the wall holding this posture and feel where the body is expressing strain, this will give some indication of where the balance is “off”!

Postural disturbances are going to affect the functioning of your nervous system.  This vital system controls the function of every organ, tissue and cell of your body and when the communication between your nervous system (brain) and your body is disrupted, the function of your body will be disrupted as a result.

Chiropractic adjustments correct the disruption of your nervous system and allow every part of your body to function optimally.
