Can Chiropractic Care help with ADD/ADHD?

12/4/2024

ADD or ADHD stands for attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
People with this disorder may have trouble concentrating, may be poorly organized, and may be inattentive.

This happens because some areas in the brain (prefrontal cortex and anterior cingulate gyrus—responsible for logical thinking) become hypoactive while other areas (hypocampus and amygdala—responsible for memory and emotion) become hyperactive.

With this combination of hypo/hyperactive areas, individuals with ADHD may demonstrate poor, irrational, and emotional decision-making.

Chiropractic can help by implementing low-force, tonal adjustments to regulate and calm the nervous system thereby easing symptoms of ADHD.

Chiropractic may help with ADHD symptoms by improving the circuit of your nervous system and may help with:
• Reducing hyperactivity.
• Improving focus and memory.
• Inducing a calm state of being.
• Addressing other conditions caused by or contributing to ADHD, such as sleep disorders and gut issues.

Your brain and nervous system coordinate your whole body. When the brain and nervous system are continuously overstimulated, the body goes into a chronic state of survival whereby there is a shortage of your "feel good" hormones like dopamine and norepinephrine. These hormones are vital for the optimum function of your brain.

Every time you get adjusted, your body naturally releases more of these hormones, just one of the many benefits. With consistent care, specific, tonal based chiropractic adjustments can stimulate a release of more of these hormones and may ultimately improve brain function, which may ease ADHD symptoms and may improve overall brain and nervous system function in these individuals.

Let us help you live a life of ease.
